Dr Bobby Griffin was brought up on the remote peninsula of Kintyre, on the west coast of Scotland, and graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (with academic commendation) from the University of Dundee in 1999 – the first member of his family to receive a University education.
In 2004 Bobby immigrated to rural Western Australia, working in the Public and Private sectors of Dentistry.
In 2006, Bobby took up a volunteer post at Wuchopperen, Cairns. Over time, Cairns became home to Bobby, and he therefore embarked on his long-held dream of specialization in Orthodontics, after 12 years of general dentistry.
In 2010, by gaining a Pass in the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons Primary examinations at the first attempt (the toughest set of exams a dentist will ever sit), Bobby earned the credentials to apply for specialist training.
Bobby graduated with a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (D.Clin.Dent) degree in Orthodontics in June 2014. This is a 3 year, full time training post, accredited by the Dental Board of Australia as being suitable for registration with AHPRA as a Specialist Orthodontist. Since then he has extended his postgraduate qualifications by becoming accredited by the Australasian Orthodontic Board, and gaining the following prestigious Diplomas:
Bobby is also an active member of the Australian Dental Association, and the Australasian Society of Orthodontists, and he plays an active roll in the continuing education of local dental professionals.
Besides his clear passion for science and dentistry, Bobby is a family man, and spends much of his time enjoying life with his partner Mandy, his son, Sachin. But, as a release, Bobby has an alter-ego, being the lead guitarist in local rock bands, The Pulp Stones and the Maria’s!
